Photo of the week
Hello and welcome to the Wayfarer Photo blog. This blog and portfolio will show of my (Thomas Vaclavek) work and thoughts. A little bit of background about me. Currently I live in Sydney Australia with my wife Katie. We moved here almost three years ago from Sacramento California. I have been taking serious photos for over ten years, mostly on film using a Leica III F that I inherited from my grandfather. Two years ago I finally made the switch to digital photography and started using a Canon G7 and then last year supplementing it with a Canon 40D. I have since added several lenses and other accessories in order to pursue my vision. I still enjoy shooting film and one of my next projects is to start using infrared and pseudo-infrared films including Ilford SFX 200.
Currently my passion is travel photography because it joins my love for travel with my joy of photography, plus the added bonus of trying delicious food from around the world. I’m always looking for a tasty meal even if it challenges my own sensibilities. Good restaurant recommendations are always welcome here. I have started experimenting with portraits, both of people and animals, and macro photography. As my vision changes and evolves so too will this blog. I will continue updating this blog when possible so keep checking back when you have a chance.
The three photographers that inspire me the most are in no particular order:
David duChemin for helping me look for my vision
David Hobby for his fantastic strobist tips and lighting guidance
Scott Kelby for his Lightroom and other technical know how.
Finally I will leave you with a photo of the camera gear I am currently using, not including accessories like tripods and underwater cases.
