Being in the red centre meant that getting up early was essential to do any hikes. That worked out great for photography as well to make the most of the good early light. We started our hike before 6am and by the time we finished after 8:30am it was already close to 38ºC. The hike gets closed after 9am anyway because of the heat and potential health risks. Below is a panorama from the southern cliff edge showing the canyon curve away on a pretty spectacular morning.
