My family and I had a short getaway to the Sunshine Coast where we stayed at Golden Beach. It was a great little holiday but I only managed to get out to photograph briefly. We had a number of gorgeous golden sunsets despite the fact that the sun had a hard time breaking through the clouds.
We drove to Dickies Beach to look at the shipwreck sitting on the beach itself. Unfortunately the low tide which allowed us to see wreck was right around lunch so the light was a bit harsh. It did give me a chance to use the Lee Big Stopper 10 stop neutral density filter. It worked quite well and allowed me to get some longer exposures to capture movement into the water. The Lee Big Stopper is a fantastic filter which I would highly recommend to serious landscape photographers. One thing to note when using it, is that it produces a blue tinge to the photographs which can either be embraced or corrected with a custom white balance.
