Photo of the week
I started the hike up to this view point about an hour earlier in the valley below which you can see in the middle of the panorama. It was a tough climb with my 12kgs of photographic gear, sometimes using my hands to pull myself up. However, the view was certainly worth it. I took a number of photographs including this 8 photograph panorama stitched together in Photoshop CS6. This was also my first proper hike in New Zealand, and set the scene for the rest of my trip there. After taking advantage of the final sunset and the beginning of blue hour by taking a number of images, I started the tricky decent. By the time I reached the bottom it was quite dark under the trees which made it somewhat difficult. If anyone visits Arthur’s Pass, I highly recommend making the effort to climb up for this magnificent view although it is a difficult hike so fitness is definitely an issue.
