Photo of the week
Last week I got tired of my beard and decided to have some fun while shaving it off. That’s how this little project was started. The rules were that I had to shave a part of the beard off symmetrically for five days and take a photograph. My wife Katie took all of the photographs once I set up all of the lighting. All the photographs are simple one light from high camera left, with a silver reflector on camera right to brighten up that side of the face.
This project ended up being even more fun than I expected because of the different responses I received. As people caught on to what I was doing they started looking forward to the next day which was quite fun. Publishing the individual photographs on social media also received quite a few funny comments. Below each photograph are a couple of the responses/reactions for that day’s look.
Day 1 Reactions: One of the village people, a southern trucker, 1920’s butcher from New York, Chopper Read and a porn star.
Day 2 Reactions: A bikie gang recruit, a cowboy who forgot his hat, a gunslinger, an interesting facial hair growth and I accidentally managed to startle one person in the hallway.
Day 3 Reactions: Chopper Read, bikie gang member and 1970’s throw back.
Day 4 Reactions: A dirty mustache, 80’s throw back, the classic mustache, Tom Selleck and Freddie Mercury .
Day 5 Reactions: Eastern European reminiscent of the movie The Grand Budapest Hotel, a strong man (without the muscles), car salesman, Salvador Dali and arty.
After an interesting and at times creepy week it is nice to be clean shaven again. Having said that I certainly don’t want to shave for at least a week.
Thank you to everyone for making this really fun, especially Katie for taking all of these photographs. Below is a quick video summary of the week. Enjoy!
